Chair duties require oversight of department, faculty and accrediting reviews,
curriculum development and review, faculty development, hiring and training of adjuncts and preparation for Baccalaureate level review. Duties also include the creation and maintenance of a student print center, along with the supervision of work study students.
Assistant Professor, Graphic Design Program, McIntosh College 8/2001–present
As one of the initial faculty in a new program, created and revised course curriculum,
objectives and outcomes, as well as, syllabi and class schedules for several core design courses. Prepared course materials for lectures, including slides, overheads, and computer files; developed course projects and exams to meet course competencies; served as student advisor and member of Publication Committee, Technology Committee and Library Committee.

Computer Concepts
Developed course materials. Instruction covered the basic operation, hardware and
functionality of the Macintosh.
Fundamentals of Design
Revised course materials. Instruction covered the basic elements and principles and
execution of design.
Fundamentals of Drawing
Instruction covered the process of visual representation of objects and media exploration.
Typography
Instruction covered history of letterforms and the creation of typographic solutions to visual communication problems.
Graphic Design I
Instruction included integration of general design principles into design problems and
applications, as well as the exploration of the design, analysis and review process.
Graphic Design II
Lecture and lab instruction covering advanced application of the design process in
multi-page documents. Exploration of materials and their application is also covered.
Publication Design
Course design and implementation. Typographic and design solutions are applied to multi page documents with a concentration on the principle of continuation using the grid and Gestalt theory.
Illustrator / Digital Illustration I
Developed course materials. Taught digital illustration applications with a concentration in vector based graphics and its integration with raster based programs.
Adobe Photoshop/ Digital Illustration II
Instruction in raster based software, utilizing a wide range of skills and effects to
accomplish solutions to specific design challenges.
Desktop Publishing
Instruction covered the integration of type, art and photography into document creation software. Page layout, design and typographic skills are reinforced.
Advertising Design
Instruction covered completion of an advertising campaign from concept to
final comprehensive.
Portfolio Preparation
Instruction covered preparation and presentation of portfolios in hard copy and
electronic form.

July 2001 to Present Director, Gams Design, Hampton, NH
Freelance graphic design servicing clients including Cendant Software, Ford Motor
Company’s Inside the Oval Racing Magazine and Irving Oil Corporation.
January 2000 to April 2001 Art Director, MicroArts Corporation, Greenland, NH
Duties included design and production of advertising campaign print pieces for Internet business to business companies, including HoustonStreet.com, Celarix.com and THINQ. Also included were Software packaging and advertising campaigns for Xerox’s Scansoft Division and McAfee Internet Protection.
January 1998 to December 1999 Creative Director,
Sierra Graphic Services, Bellevue, WA
Duties included management of a team of seven designers, account managers and production staff to produce front line packaging for five divisions of industry leader in personal software. Also included was participation in projects from concept to print including packaging, advertising and direct market pieces, both with in house designers and outside contractors. Duties required working closely with marketing personnel and software development during all stages of the projects from concept to print.
September 1994 to December 1997 Sierra Development
Creative Director of Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within. Creative Director/Co-designer
Vampire Lords: The Inimicus. Duties included story boarding, style creation, art direction, photography, package design, interface design, typography, pre-production design, post-production design, and game play direction. Included also was the management of art teams of up to twelve comprised of illustrators, animators, 3D artists and animators, from concept stages to final development.
September 1994 to September 1997 Director of Documentation Dept. Sierra On-Line
Responsible for all aspects of projects from inception to press checks, as well as tracking, purchase requests and monitoring of all aspects of department. Management of personnel and budgets for multifaceted projects included working with project managers, project art directors and teams as well as budget and production supervisors.
1985 to January 1992 Freelance Designer
Service for several companies in upstate New York, Idaho, and Los Angeles areas. Various projects include: logos, stationery systems, brochures, posters, illustration, and art direction of photography. Clients included: Valley Children Hospital, Fresno, CA, Mitsubishi Motor Corporation, Orange, CA; Suzuki Motor Corporation, Whittier CA; National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Cleveland, OH; Mark Hillier Design, Pasadena, CA; Blind Mice Studios, San Gabriel, CA; Dynatype Inc., Glendale, CA.

Merit scholarship based on portfolio review.
1994 Central California Advertising Award for Valley Children’s Hospital
Creation of an identity for terminally ill children’s division that reflected the sensitive
nature of the clients and their circumstances.
1995 Print Magazine Regional Design Excellence Award
Award for excellence in design, Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within software packaging.
2000 Software Information Industry Association Immy Award
Best Product Line Packaging for Sierra Hoyle Series software products.
